Originally from the southern California coast, Chris headed west and received his degree from the University of Hawaii in 2001. Chris worked in Hawaii as a researcher developing recirculating aquaculture systems to rear shrimp. In 2005, Chris moved to Washington and began working as a shellfish biologist managing commercial crab, shrimp, and geoduck fisheries for two western Washington Tribes. Chris also developed a commercial oyster, clam, and geoduck shellfish farm for the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe. He started working for Sitka Tribe in August 2013, and has started developing much of STA's ocean research program. In his spare time, Chris enjoys surfing, fishing, and hiking with his wife Clara and their two sons, Will (7) and Dutch (5).
