Environmental Lab Manager
Michael Jamros is the lab manager for the Sitka Tribe’s Environmental Regulatory Lab. Born and raised in the Washington D.C. area, he attended Virginia Tech where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. Afterwards, he made a move to the west coast to continue studying biochemistry in graduate school at the University of California, San Diego. In 2013, after years of researching protein structure/function, Michael completed his Ph.D. in Biochemsitry. He continued to refine and expand his lab skills in a postdoctoral researcher postion where he learned valuable skills that he now employs in monitoring of marine biotoxins here in Sitka. Michael began working with Resource Protection in October 2015 and is enjoying the opportunity to work in a lab with an environmental and human health focus in beautiful Southeast Alaska.
