One of the Sitka Tribal Council's highest priorities is protection of our customary and traditional (subsistence) resources. The Sitka Tribe nurtures strong government-to-government relationships with such entities as:

These relationships enable the Sitka Tribe to be engaged in high-level discussions about development and subsistence issues. Many agencies enjoy working with the Sitka Tribe because of the unique perspective that Alaska Natives bring to the table.

A recently published example of this collaboration is the Katlian Watershed Assessment, produced cooperatively by the Sitka Tribe and the Sitka Ranger District, Tongass National Forest.
