STE is assessing the Sitka tourism market and its potential for either continued stagnation or growth. While we examine the operations plans for the future we intend to focus on high quality experiences for visitors, excellence in customer service, and training and retaining high-performing employees.
Sitka Tribal Tannery has been providing quality fur/skin tanning services for the community of Sitka, clients who reside throughout the state and even customers living outside of Alaska. We specialize in Seal and Sea Otter tanning and will soon expand into sales of sewn fur products around the United States.
The Sitka Tribe of Alaska's charitable gaming provides supplemental support to the Sitka Tribe to assist its various department's programs and services. An expansion of gaming operations is in the works with an emphasis on pull-tabs and entertainment for residents as well as visitors.
A separate website is in development for online sales of Alaska Native handcrafts and art. In addition, Sitka Tribal Enterprises will expand the local and regional presence of Made in Sitka in preparation for next summer.
The "Community House" continues to be a favorite venue for local musical and other events. STE plans to increase the business portfolio of this valuable space by marketing to corporate retreat planners nationwide. We will ensure that this is done with the utmost cultural sensitivity, as this is our place of gathering first and foremost.
Sitka Tribal Enterpises and Sitka Tribe of Alaska management are in the early stages of examining options for entering the low-quantity, high-value area of national and international seafood markets.
