Welcome to the Education & Training Website

Sitka Tribe or Alaska's Education & Training Department provides supplemental financial assistance in the forms of  Higher Education & Adult Vocational Training scholarships to students in post-secondary educational institutions.

In addition to administering the Tribe’s two scholarship programs the Education Department offers assistance in identifying and submitting applications to other financial aid resources.  Career guidance is provided to those unsure of their educational path, particularly those under or unemployed individuals who desire to enhance their employment opportunities through education and training.

The Education department also provides educational advocacy for tribal citizens and often serves as a mediator between schools and families.  The education program offers free HSGQE (high school exit exam) tutoring for tribal citizens in high school.

The Education department also provides the teaching assistant for the Summer School program.  The Education department also serves as the designated point of contact concerning educational issues.  The department is directed by the Tribal Council to serve as a liaison between local, state, and federal agencies concerning educational endeavors.
